Located to the south-east of the Seychelles island group, Aldabra Atoll comprises four large coral islands enclosing a shallow lagoon and surrounded by a coral reef. The atoll's isolation has allowed the population of giant tortoises to thrive, with 152,000 present, the world's largest population of this reptile.
