Morocco: The Unexplored South

Home to some of Morocco's most spectacular natural and cultural highlights, the less explored south of the country provides the backdrop to this exciting Moroccan adventure. Heading off the beaten track you'll avoid the crowds, as you journey from the Berber heart of the High Atlas and across the deserts and oases of the Dades and Todra Gorges.Starting your journey in the High Atlas mountain villages of Imlil and Ouirgane, you'll have an opportunity to enjoy gentle walks and discover a little something of the traditions of the Berbers, before crossing the dramatic and beautifully scenic Tizi n'Test Pass into the lush valleys beyond. As you head further south, you'll visit the souks of Taroudant and the palmeries of Tata before heading for the desert sands of the Sahara.Spending a night amongst the remote Chgagga Dunes, you'll then enjoy desert sunrises and camel rides, before turning north and following the palmeries of the Draa Valley. Crossing over the dramatic Jbel Saghro range you then enter the southern oases valleys and gorges of Todra and Dades, where you will spend time exploring the ruined kasbahs and palmeries before winding your way back towards the lively bustle of Marrakech.

Morocco Mountains, Waterfalls And Gorges

Bringing together some of the best of the Moroccan outdoors, this exciting trip combines a number of the country's natural highlights with the bustling contrast of one of its most stimulating cities, Marrakech.Starting with a breathtaking stay in the mountain village of Imlil, surrounded by the peaks of the High Atlas Mountains, you'll have a chance to enjoy some walking in the foothills of the High Atlas, discovering a little something of the rugged terrain before moving on to the town of Demnate. Here, a little off the main tourist trail, you will be able to appreciate the spectacular Ouzoud Waterfalls and enjoy a cooling dip in one of the pools, before heading back over the Atlas Mountains towards the imposing Dades Gorge. A couple of days amongst these stunning southeastern landscapes affords a chance to view the impressive 'Monkeys Fingers' and explore the ruined kasbahs, palmeries and oases, before heading back to Marrakech for your last few days. With ample time to make the most of the 'Red City', you'll have the chance to discover its hidden souks and alleyways and experience the unique charms and character of the city's famous Djemma el Fna Square.

Amongst these rugged landscapes you will visit Berber villages and experience something of life in the shadow of North Africa's highest mountain, Djebel Toukbal.Winding your way back down onto the plains, you then turn towards the coastal waters of the Atlantic and the captivating town of Essaouira, one of Morocco's most picturesque settings. Enclosed behind fortified ramparts, Essaouira's mix of quiet beaches and meandering alleyways provides a leisurely end to this Moroccan adventure.
